Overview
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer / Tech Lead to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead backend development initiatives, define and validate scalable software architectures, and ensure high standards of code quality, security, and performance.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive technical decisions, and mentor developers while contributing to impactful projects. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring Security, microservices, REST, JPA, Oracle, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, along with previous experience working with Santander.
You won’t be handed a backlog. You’ll be part of the architecture conversation from the beginning, working directly alongside the client’s engineering leadership and owning delivery outcomes end-to-end.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to backend development teams, guiding technical decisions and ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards.
- Define and validate software architectures, including Hexagonal, 3-Tier, and Microservices architectures.
- Establish coding standards, best practices, and guidelines for software quality and security.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with defined quality standards.
- Translate business requirements into viable and scalable technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks and proactively propose solutions and alternatives.
- Collaborate with Front-end, QA, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service integration.
- Mentor and support development teams, promoting technical growth and continuous improvement.
- Define and validate CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in Java development, including Java 17.
- At least 1 year of experience in a Technical Leadership or Tech Lead role.
- Advanced knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.
- Strong experience with Microservices, Hexagonal Architecture, and 3-Tier Architecture.
- Proficiency in JPA, Java Lambdas, and RESTful services.
- Experience working with relational databases, primarily Oracle.
- Previous experience working with Santander is required.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, SonarQube, Fortify, and Gluon.
- Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make and communicate technical decisions and architectural trade-offs.
- Basic knowledge or experience with Angular or other front-end technologies.
- Experience in the banking or insurance industry.
- Experience coordinating or working with distributed development teams.
